Anneke Lucassen is a clinical geneticist in Southampton. She has combined a research background in molecular medicine, a busy clinical genetic practice and a longstanding interest in ethicolegal issues encountered in genetic medicine, to provide an interdisciplinary bridge between these fields. She co-authored a book on genetics and primary care (BMA 1st prize 2000) and has several ongoing research collaborations in primary care. She also co-founded the Genethics club (www.genethicsclub.org); a national forum which meets regularly to discuss ethicolegal issues encountered in genetic medicine. Outside the genetics arena she is a member of the local hospital clinical ethics committee, the Institute of Medical Ethics and vice chair of her local research ethics committee.
