Paul Brennan works as a Consultant in Clinical Genetics with the Northern Genetics Service. His time is split between the Institute of Human Genetics in Newcastle upon Tyne and the Teesside Genetics Unit in Middlesbrough, where he is Lead (and only) Clinician. His specialist interests include inherited heart disease and familial cancer. He is keen to move away from the traditional model of clinical genetics as a purely tertiary speciality and to acknowledge the roles that primary and secondary care have to play in the holistic management of genetic disease.
